The process of creating photographs opens me up to what is outside of me. My eyes wander every which way, as I search for something surprising, whimsical, or just simply, beautiful. The movement of a boat's reflection in the water. The intricate patterns that suggest dancers on an aging cactus. The serenity of a grey, misty day. The clouds, so majestic and forever reinventing themselves. And, all the colors, creating a warm blanket around us.
I rarely go out and seek particular images. Rather, as I photograph, images emerge and reveal themselves to me. I ask myself: would I even notice all of this were I not creating the photographs...?
“When words become unclear, I shall focus with photographs. When images become inadequate, I shall be content with silence.” ―
Ansel Adams
